Three people were arrested on drug-related charges following an investigation by the Smith County Sheriff’s Office Thursday, March 16.
Sgt. Junior Fields received consent to search a cell phone that had been confiscated during a DUI arrest earlier that day and noticed messages from the same day about pill sells from a phone belonging to John Colgate (31, Pleasant Shade).
Fields texted Colgate and set up a deal to purchase 10 10 mg Hydrocodone pills for $10 each.
Fields contacted Chief Britt Davis and Sgt. Daniel Padgett to inform them of what he had, at which time he, along with David, Padgett and Lt. Tommy Proffitt made contact with Colgate, along with Sary Gulley (28, Pleasant Shade) and Jimmy Gulley (60, Carthage), and they were found to be in possession of 10 10 mg Hydrocodone pills, which were originally prescribed to Jimmy Gulley.
According to the arrest warrant, Jimmy Gulley admitted that they were his pills, Sary Gulley admitted that she had texted the phone, and Colgate stated he knew what they had come to McDonald’s for and stated the he had drove them there for the purpose of selling said pills.
All three were placed under arrest and transported to the Smith County Jail Facility for booking.
They are each charged with criminal conspiracy to sell schedule II (Hydrocodone).
