The Smith County Owls win regular season finale 15-0 over Grundy County

The Smith County Owls traveled to Grundy County on Friday night, winning in a low scoring affair 15-0.

Neither team was able to get anything going on the first quarter, but the Owls struck first in the second quarter with DJ Burk running it in from 5 yards out, taking a 6-0 lead.

Johnny Lyda was able to get an interception, and the Owls offense drove down inside the 10 and Rodriguez hit a 29 yard field goal to give the Owls a 9-0 lead, which is what the score .

The Smith County Owls were able to add some more points on to the scoreboard in the second half, with Rodriguez hitting his second field goal of the night to extend the score to 12-0 off of a 35 yard field goal.

Neither team was able to get anything going, for the rest of the 3rd quarter, but Smith County forced a fumble with just under 10 minutes left in the game to take over at the Grundy 23 yard line. The Owls offense couldn’t get much going, but were able to get on the scoreboard as Rodriguez hit a 39 yard field goal to take a 15-0 lead.

Smith County was able to stop the Grundy County offense and get the ball back with 4 minutes left in the game. Grundy was able to get the ball back, but it was too little too late to get anything going and the Smith County Owls were able to win 15-0.

What’s next for the Owls?

The Smith County Owls will host the Brainerd Panthers next week on November 6th in the first round of the playoffs.
