On March 30th Deputy Dillon Sandlin responded to the Helms Bend Dump site for a suspicious vehicle call. A yellow Chevrolet truck was observed and Deputy Sandlin made contact with the male individual identified as Andrew Grisham.
Grisham provided appropriate personal and vehicle identification and paperwork. When asked about having possession of weapons, Grisham stated that he had two firearms inside the vehicle. He was asked to exit the vehicle and Deputy Sandlin reported he caught the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. He conducted a frisk of Grisham’s person and discovered a loaded Smith & Wesson 38 Special handgun concealed in his jacket.
After securing the weapon, Deputy Sandlin attempted to detain Grisham. Grisham became resistant and attempted to pull away. Deputy Sandlin gained physical custody of Grisham by wedging him between his own body and the truck. He was further detained without incident.
A probable cause search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of .55 grams of crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine, 2 schedule IV Tramadol pill, 1/2 of a marijuana cigarette and a Winchester .22 rifle with several rounds of ammunition.
Grisham was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and possession of methamphetamine. He was released with a $23,000 bond and must appear in court at a later date.
