Jerry Michael Huddleston
(Smith County Insider Press) — On July 16, 2018, an officer from the Smith County Sheriff’s department was dispatched to a residence on Farley Lane in Carthage, Tennessee, due to a report of theft. When Deputy Stephen Enoch arrived at the scene, he discovered that Jerry Michael Huddleston (27, Pleasant Shade) had attempted to steal a 4-Wheeler from the property.
According to the police report, Enoch made contact with the property owner, who was holding Huddleston at gunpoint. The property owner had intercepted Huddleston while he was attempting to steal the owner’s 4-Wheeler, which was valued at approximately $5,000.
Enoch instructed Huddleston multiple times to remain on the ground, but Huddleston resisted these commands and attempted to get up, leading to a brief struggle with Enoch, according to the police report.
During an investigation of the property, boot marks were discovered on the back door of the residence, suggesting that Huddleston had attempted to gain entry into the residence.
Huddleston was placed under arrest and transported to the Smith County Sheriff’s Office for booking.
According to the police report, Huddleston became agitated during transport and began to slam his head on the cage in the patrol unit, despite Enoch’s requests that he stop.
Huddleston is charged with criminal attempt of theft, resisting arrest, theft of property, and violation of probation.
