In the midst of completing a challenging school year, Gordonsville High School faced another tragic change: the loss of a well loved teacher Ms. Tracy Alexander. The students of Gordonsville High wanted to make sure that her memory was not lost and started sketching proposals for a mural and parking spot painting that would keep Ms. Alexander’s memory alive and honored for years to come.
High school student Dalton Williams proposed a large mural design, organized teams of student painters, and secured funding for materials for his project. Meanwhile, seventh and eighth grade students teamed up to design and complete art on Ms. Alexander’s parking spot.
After school had closed for the summer, Ms. Alexander’s sister Carmen Alexander and close friends visited to see the completed works created to honor Ms. Alexander’s commitment to teaching and positive impact on Gordonsville High’s student body.
Ms. Alexander certainly left her mark on the hearts of those who knew her and benefited from her thoughtful guidance. Each student who passes through these halls will see what great impact a dedicated, caring heart can make.
