Stolen Firearm Found in Traffic Stop

June 23, 2016

A BOLO out of Jackson County led to the arrest of a man in possession of a stolen firearm Saturday.

Officer Nick Campbell of the Carthage Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a green Chevy Blazer, matching the description of the one from the Jackson County BOLO, for a muffler violation.

Upon speaking with both subjects inside and gathering I.D. from both, it was found that they in fact were the subjects of the BOLO.

Upon talking with the driver, 23-year-old Dillain Hasty of Watertown, a search was conducted of the vehicle.

A Smith & Wesson .38 Special was found underneath the passenger side seat.

Upon running running the serial number for the firearm, it came back stolen out of Rutherford County.

Hasty was placed under arrest and transported to the Smith County Jail Facility for booking.

He is charged with Possession of Stolen Property.
