
The Smith County School Board of Education hosted the first community outreach event called “Social Media and Our Youth” on Monday, May 9, 2022 6 p.m. at Smith County High School. The event featured information parents should know regarding the dangers of social media, parent liability, and popular apps.
The panel of speakers included Jason Lawson, District Attorney General; Brandon Bellar, General Sessions and Juvenile Justice Judge, Smith County; Kit Jenkins, SCHS Criminal Justice Teacher and Scott Ridgway, Director or Child Advocacy Center. Additional panel members included Barry Smith, Smith County Schools Director, Steve Hopper, Smith County Sheriff, Charlie Belote, TN Bureau of Investigation and Mike Dunn, Special Agent of Internal Affairs. Jamie Winkler, Smith County Attorney assisted with the question and answer section.
