Game 1: Tennessee vs Virginia
SCLL All Stars Tennessee Seniors Defeat Virginia in pitcher’s duel. Both teams were strong on the mound Saturday, but Tennessee defeated Virginia 3-1.
Smith County (Tennessee) opened up with Virginia in the Southeast Regionals. After no score in the first inning, Smith Co. scored in the second, third and fourth to take a 3-0 lead, which helped propel Tennessee to victory. Virginia got one run in the sixth inning to make the final score 3 to 1. Hunter Mann pitched the first three innings followed by Nate Hate hall with one inning, Matthew Enoch 2.1 innings and Dustin Mimms 2/3 of an inning. They combined to throw a two-hitter. Layton Cripps and Jay Franklin had two hits a piece – Cripps one double and Franklin two singles. Nate Hall and Barrett Briggs both had one hit each – both singles. Bryson Neal had one hit and an RBI. Matthew Enoch had two sac flys for two RBIs. Winning pitcher: Hunter Mann
Game 2: Tennessee vs North Carolina
Four pitchers team up as Tennessee shuts out North Carolina 2-0 on Sunday as four pitchers combined to throw a shut out.
Smith County’s second game was against North Carolina. Dylan Hackett scored in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. Runs were at a premium until Layton Cripps came up and hit a solo homerun in the sixth inning to take a 2-0 lead. North Carolina had the bases loaded after two Smith Co. errors, but a fly ball to center field ended the game for Smith County to go 2-0 in the tournament. Mann, Hall, Enoch and Mimms allowed five scattered hits to keep North Carolina from scoring. Layton Cripps had one hit – a homerun. Campbell Gregory had an RBI. Nate Hall, Bryson Neal and Barrett Briggs all added one hit each. Winning pitcher: Hunter Mann
