A cold front will be moving across Smith County on Friday bringing rainy and windy conditions and that will set the stage for colder air to move in this weekend and bring frost to the area. Be sure to protect those plants and flowers as much as possible because it will be unseasonably cold for this time of year.
I do expect the heat to come back week by week as we go through the month of May.
Precipitation is once again expected to be above normal this month and that would make eight months in a row!
The Gulf of Mexico is expected to be a prime location for Hurricane development this summer and fall, and that would mean systems would be more likely to move up into the Gulf Coast and bring significant weather into our area.
We finished April with 7 to 8 inches of rain across Smith County. Here is an amazing statistic, we are now over 35 inches of rain for the year and only a third of this year has gone by!
