By Steve Norris – We are enjoying a beautiful week across Middle Tennessee but a chance of scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms will begin to pop up from Friday through Sunday, afternoon highs will continue in the 80s with a few spots hitting 90. We will have a big bright moon shining down this weekend, it is called the flower Moon.
Did you know that on a day when the temperature outside is 75 degrees, in a vehicle with the windows rolled up it will be 95 degrees within 10 minutes and over 110 in a half hour. On a 90 degree day the temperature inside will hit 109 in only 10 minutes. Never leave kids or pets for long periods in a closed up vehicle, look before you lock!
A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for severe weather and you should monitor the conditions closely but go about your normal business and think about what you are going to do if a warning is issued. If you hear the words tornado warning that means a tornado is indicated by radar or reported by the public and you should take shelter quickly. If a basement is not available, the smallest room at the center portion of your home would be second-best such as a closet or bathroom.
