Smith County Weather Report – June 4, 2020

June 4, 2020

by Steve Norris, Smith County Insider Weather Correspondent

There will be showers and thunderstorms around Middle Tennessee through Friday, and then get set for a hot weekend as the chance of rain goes down to the slight category and the high temperatures soar into the low 90s. It will be quite humid for the next five days, so the heat index will be uncomfortable.

We just finished our eighth consecutive month with above normal rainfall. We have a tropical storm in the Gulf of Mexico and some of the computer models have it bringing Tennessee to 2 to 4 inches of rain next week, so we will have to keep a close eye on it.

May was also a cooler than normal month but I think June is really going to heat up and be hotter than normal, and I’m expecting summer and fall to be hotter than average.

We have a full moon coming up on Friday. It will rise in the eastern Sky near Sunset and it is known as the Strawberry Moon. On June 7th and 8th if you are up around midnight you can see the moon along with Jupiter and Saturn in the Eastern sky.
