Scattered thunderstorms will begin to develop across Middle Tennessee from Friday through Sunday and a little cool down will come with highs only in the upper 80s by Sunday. I am expecting above-normal rainfall from August 3rd through the 10th.
We are currently into what is normally our hottest time of the year and temperatures are soaring across the state this week so I thought I would review the hottest day to ever go into our weather record book. In August of 1930, the temperature reached 111 degrees in both Carthage and Lebanon. The highest temp ever recorded in Nashville was 109 on June 29th 2012, that was the day that even saw the temperature hit 103 on the Cumberland plateau. The hottest temperature ever recorded in Tennessee was 113 at Perryville in West Central Tennessee on August 9 1930.
On August 2nd, the ringed planet Saturn will be brighter than any time of the year and will be visible all night long. The best time to see it is around midnight to 2 A.M. in the Southeastern sky. A medium-sized or larger telescope will allow you to see Saturn’s rings. Drop me an email anytime if you have questions or need weather information, weather1@charter.net
