Smith County Weather Report: January 27, 2022

January 27, 2022

by Steve Norris, Smith County Insider Weather Correspondent

January has sure brought us our share of winter weather and the month will see one more cold spell with temperatures dropping into the teens Saturday morning and only in the 30s Saturday afternoon. A very big pattern change is coming and it starts on Sunday as we jump up to near 50 degrees and we will be in the 50s most of next week.   We are likely to see a large rain system around February 3rd and 4th followed by another blast of cold air around the 5th.

At least during the cold weather we do not have to worry about the iguanas falling out of the trees on us like they do in Southern Florida. When the temperature dips into the 40s and the body temperature of the iguanas in the trees drop, they become stunned and immobilized and start falling down out of the trees.
