Friday and Saturday look good with partly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 40s, but we will drop into the mid-20s Saturday morning. Rain could begin Sunday afternoon and becomes likely Sunday night and Monday with several inches possible, and a few thunderstorms are also a possibility. Along with the rain, we could see temperatures soaring into the upper 50s for the high on Monday. At this time, we have no bitter cold Arctic air insight for Middle Tennessee for the next 10 to 14 days, but we know it’s lurking out there, and it’s just a matter of time.
This week we Mark the 36th anniversary of one of the most severe cold waves on record in Tennessee. January 21, 1985, 28 below zero was reported in Cannon County, 27 Below in Jamestown and Byrdstown. 24 below in Smith County, 20 below in Lebanon, and minus 17 reported officially in Nashville.
