Looks like a pretty good week ahead for Middle Tennessee with partly sunny days and only a few afternoon and evening thunderstorms. Temperatures are not going to be bad for this time of year with highs mostly running from 88 to 92 degrees each afternoon.
In our looking back segment this week… August 8th 1930, one of the hottest days ever for the Mid-State. Lebanon topped out at 111 degrees, Clarksville hit 109, Lewisburg 108 and Nashville and Franklin 104. Looking at the statistics it seems like heat waves of this magnitude come about every 10 to 20 years.
From now through the end of August is when we get the most cloud-to-ground lightning strikes so it is best to move inside if you can hear thunder because storms can move over you quickly. There have been four lightning fatalities across the country so far this year, two were on the beach and two were playing golf. Drop me a note anytime if you have questions, weather1@charter.net
