Showers and thunderstorms are likely through Saturday across Middle Tennessee and some of those in the afternoons will produce very heavy rainfall and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning. If things unfold the way we think at this time, rain chances will drop to 50% on Sunday and then only a slight chance early and mid next week as the hotter temperatures return. I expect 90 to 95 degrees everyday from Sunday through Wednesday.
We had a beautiful rainbow the other day, Did you know the rainbow is mentioned in the Bible? God put the rainbow in the sky as the sign of his promise that he would never again destroy the earth with flood (Genesis 9:13–17). To view a rainbow, simply stand with your back to the Sun when showers are in the area and the rainbow will be in front of you.
For our astronomy enthusiasts, I hope you were able to view the Perseid meteor shower last week. The next big shower is December 13th and 14th and I will remind you before its occurrence. We have two bright planets that you can see in the nighttime sky this week. Venus is bright in the Western sky after sunset and Jupiter rises in the Southeastern and Southern Sky late at night, great viewing especially for those of you with a good telescope.
