After temperatures reach the mid-70s on Friday, a weak cold front will move through Friday night bringing scattered showers and knocking our high temperatures down into the 60s for the weekend. I do expect the low-to-mid 70s to return for the early and middle part of next week.
Sunrise is now 6:07 a.m. With sunset at 7:20 p.m. Venus continues to be visible in the Western sky after sunset, and there is something interesting to look for in the Southeastern sky just above the Horizon before daylight. Jupiter, Saturn, Mars and the Moon will be lined up so be sure and check it out if you are up early enough.
With all of the severe weather in the Southeast this past week, there were a few things I wanted to mention. When you hear a tornado watch it just means that conditions are favorable for severe weather and you should listen for possible warnings and think about where you will go, your safe place, if a tornado is moving into your area.
If a tornado warning is issued, it means a tornado has actually touched down or radar indicates rotation in the storm and it is dangerous. At this point of a warning being issued you should move to your safe place immediately, with a basement being the number one spot followed by the smallest room in the center of your home with no windows. Many times large trees fall on Homes and can be very dangerous, so try to take shelter away from the tallest trees in your yard in case they blow down on your house.
