Smith County Insider had the opportunity to sit down with Smith County Road Superintendent, Steve Coble, and discuss how the IMPROVE Act has benefited Smith County and the Smith County Highway Department. After assessing all 441 miles of Smith County roads, Coble classified them based on their current condition into three categories, “Poor, Fair, & Good.”
Coble stated that 334.13 of the 441 total miles of Smith County roads are classified as “Poor” or “Fair” condition. Coble believes that the total cost to fix all 334.13 miles of roadway will cost roughly $7,000,000.
