As a result of the budget talks leading up to the July 2019 meeting of the Smith County Commission, the Smith County Rescue Squad reached out to Smith County Insider about publishing the Rescue Squad’s 2018 Annual Report in order to clear up any questions about what the Rescue Squad does with the annual donation it receives.
This report was submitted to the Smith County Commission in January 2019.
The Rescue Squad is very appreciative of the Commission’s support but wants to allow the public to view this report as well.
According to Rescue Squad member Ricky Gibbs, this report does not relate to funds received during the annual roadblock. “The roadblock funds are used for general operating expenses each year and cover such things as training class fees (not our personal expenses of attending the trainings), maintenance, fuel, utilities, etc., and as noted in the report, we are not compensated in any form,” he told Smith County Insider.
“We hope reviewing this will give you an insight into our organization. We are a Chartered Corporation in the State of Tennessee and are a non-profit 501(c)(3). We sincerely appreciate the support shown to us by our residents,” Gibbs said.
