The American Red Cross has recognized Smith County as a Premier Blood Partner for its outstanding support of blood donation efforts in 2024.
Thanks to the generosity of local residents, the community collected 287 units of blood over the past year. These donations are a critical part of the American Red Cross’s lifesaving mission, helping ensure that patients in need have access to blood products when emergencies arise.
Each year, the American Red Cross provides nearly 6.4 million blood products to hospitals nationwide. Contributions from communities like Smith County help accident victims, cancer patients, those undergoing surgery, and individuals with chronic illnesses receive lifesaving treatment.
