Smith County vs Cannon County – Friday, October 18, 2019
The Smith County Owls won big over the Cannon County Lions, winning 51-14.
The Owls were able to make an impact right off the bat, scoring on the first offensive play of the game off of a 65 yard touchdown pass from Cameron Spivey to Eli Martin to give the Owls a 7-0 lead just 20 seconds into the game.
The Cannon County Lions were able to find the end zone a few drives later, halfway through the first quarter. The Lions failed their 2 point conversion however, and the Owls kept a 7-6 lead.
The Owls took a long drive on their next possession, but stalled out inside the 10 yard line. Bo Broyles was able to kick a 19 yard field goal to extend the lead to 10-6.
The Lions offense fumbled on their first play of the next drive, which gave the Owls great field position at the 20 yard line. Spivey was able to run it in from 3 yards out a few plays later to take a 17-6 lead with 43 seconds left in the first quarter.
This would be the last score for either team until 12.7 seconds left in the half, with Spivey finding John Ross Hord for a 19 yard touchdown pass to extend the lead to 24-6 at halftime.
The Owls kept adding to their lead in the second half, scoring off of a 39 yard rush by Hord, a nine yard rush by Spivey and a fumble recovery for a touchdown by DJ Burk in the third quarter to extend their lead to 45-6.
The Owls added one more touchdown to their tally midway through the fourth quarter following a 46 yard touchdown rush by Colton Windham, but missed their only PAT of the night to give the Owls a 51-6 lead.
Cannon County scored with 1:57 left in the game, and a successful two point conversion gave the Owls a 51-14 lead, which ended up being the final score of the game.

The Owls will host Stone Memorial next Friday night.
