Smith County vs Stone Memorial – Friday, October 25, 2019
The Owls got started early, forcing a turnover on the first drive, which allowed them to get on the scoreboard first with a 19 yard touchdown by John Ross Hord to give the Owls a 7-0 lead just 2:27 seconds into the game.
The Stone Memorial offense threw an interception on their ensuing drive. The Owls took a 13-0 lead with a little over 3 minutes in the first half, when Hord found the end zone for his second touchdown of the game.
Neither team was able to get anything going to start the second half, but Stone Memorial scored with 20 seconds left in the third quarter. A two point conversion narrowed the lead to 13-8. The Panthers got the ball back on the kickoff following a squib kick that saw them recover.
The Owls gave up a score to go down 16-13 midway through the fourth quarter, and were unable to do anything on the following drive.
The Owls defense was able to step up and stop the Panthers, forcing Stone Memorial to punt the ball back, which the Owls returned to the Panther 25. Despite the good field position, the Owls were unable to get the offense going, turning the ball over four plays later on downs with a little over a minute left in the game for Stone Memorial to win the game.

The Owls will host Grundy County next week in the final game of the regular season.
