Smith County Noon Rotary and GHS Interact Club dedicates bench in memory of Tracy Alexander

October 12, 2022

The Smith County Noon Rotary Club and the Gordonsville High School Interact Club recently partnered together to purchase a stone bench in memory of former GHS teacher, Tracy Alexander. Alexander passed away in April of 2021 due to complications from COVID-19.

Alexander was employed by the Smith County Board of Education for over 24 years and she most recently taught 7th and 8th grades at Gordonsville. For many years, she was the sponsor of the GHS Interact Club (student Rotary organization).

She was known for her dedication to students, not only as a teacher but as a volunteer and mentor. She could often be found serving at “Tiger” sporting events and helping with extracurricular activities. Alexander had no biological children of her own, but many would say she was like a mother to them. She was a pillar of love and compassion in an often-lonely world. She stood for truth and goodness and made the most of every opportunity to support and uplift others.

On Friday, October 7, 2022 members of the Smith County Noon Rotary Club and members of the GHS Interact Club gathered together in front of GHS at the new bench and held a dedication ceremony in memory of Alexander.
