Smith County needs poll workers for August 6, 2020 election

May 21, 2020

The Smith County Election Commission is calling on residents of Smith County willing to serve as poll workers for the August 6, 2020 election.

More people than ever before are eligible to work as a poll official. State, county, or municipal employees, along with anyone 16 years of age or older can now serve as poll officials.

This is also a great opportunity for anyone looking for temporary work and for students who need volunteer hours for the Tennessee Promise program.

The county election commission will provide training for any new poll officials before the election. Poll workers are compensated for working and attending training. A worker may also volunteer their time, if preferred.

Anyone who is interested in working should call the Smith County Election Office at 615-735-8241 or email your contact information to
