One young man from Smith County is about to put Carthage on the map! Actually…he is about to put his plane from Carthage all over the map!
Collin McDonald, a senior in the Aerospace program at MTSU is setting out on a historical flight, Thursday, May 19th. He will be flying his personal aircraft, a Maule, from his family’s grass air-strip in South Carthage and stopping in Murfreesboro (home of MTSU) before embarking on an incredible adventure.
As an Honor’s student at MTSU, he is required to defend a thesis. Collin has chosen to do a creative project. He will be retracing the birth of modern air travel. His flight will retrace that of Cal Rodgers from 1911 when Rodgers made the first transcontinental flight from New York to California.

Collin will be posting pictures and videos daily of his journey.
