Smith County Healthcare Hero Jill Coley
Today’s Healthcare Hero is Jill Coley.
Jill is a Respiratory Therapist at Riverview Regional Medical Center. She has worked in the healthcare field and at Riverview Regional for 18 years.
The person who nominated Jill said, “Great therapist and great family. Never lacks a smile. Always ready to joke. Respiratory Therapists are front and center in this fight.”
We interviewed Jill about her experience working in healthcare, and this is what she had to say.
SCI: When did you realize that you wanted to work in healthcare?
JC: I knew as a little girl that I wanted to help others and feel like God calls everyone to something.
SCI: What is the most rewarding part of your job?
JC: Seeing patients be able to breathe better and be able to go home
SCI: What is the most challenging part of your job?
JC: The biggest challenges we face in healthcare is it is always changing. I’m thankful for the changes and how they have shaped me as a Respiratory Therapist.
SCI: What is something people might not know about what you do or about the healthcare field in general?
JC: People think RTs only give breathing treatments. We do a lot more. Stress testing is one of my passions and I love helping do cardiac stress tests.
SCI: What do you like to do in your free time?
JC: I love going to church, watching our two girls play ball, and making cards and crafting.
SCI: Is there anything else you would like to share with the readers of Smith County Insider?
JC: I wouldn’t consider myself a hero, but I sure do work with a lot of heroes!
