Smith County Healthcare Hero Jan Trainham

Today’s Healthcare Hero is Jan Trainham.

Jan is a Pharmacist and part-owner of Smith County Drug Center in Carthage, Tennessee. Jan has worked in the healthcare field for 27 years.

The person who nominated Jan said that she “has been working full time to make sure everyone is able to get the medications they need. She also answers any questions patients have via phone or in person and has made some special deliveries to patients impacted by COVID and who were quarantined. They have also been making hand sanitizer for the last month so Smith County residents have the opportunity to have that available to them.”

Smith County Insider interviewed Jan about her experience working in healthcare, and this is what she had to say.

JT: I always leaned to the healthcare profession but decided on pharmacy after working with Steve Wilmore at Smith County Drug while I was at Tennessee Tech.

SCI: What is the most rewarding part of your job?

JT: Working with patients to enable them to learn about their medications and improve their overall health.

SCI: What is the most challenging part of your job?

JT: Dealing with insurance companies and keeping up with all the changes in the healthcare industry

SCI: What is something people might not know about what you do or about the healthcare field in general?

JT: Walk, read, travel, and go to the lake with my family

SCI: Is there anything else you would like to share with the readers of Smith County Insider?
