Dalton Shoulders, or “Big D” as the fans and his teammates refer to him, is the Smith County Owls basketball manager. Shoulders is the Owl’s biggest fan, and he is always excited about game nights. Tuesday night was Smith County High School’s senior night. The Owls played against the Trousdale County Yellow Jackets in Carthage.
Senior Night is special for all senior basketball players, cheerleaders, and their families. “Big D” got his chance to start for the Owls in their final home game of the regular season. The crowd went crazy as Shoulders’ name was called for the starting lineup. At the game’s opening, he won the tip and hit a first-quarter layup. The crowd was sent into a frenzy!
You could hear the cheers from miles away. What they didn’t know was “Big D ” wasn’t done yet. Later in the game, near the end of the fourth quarter, he was put back into the game and hit a three-pointer! As he was subbed off after the three, the crowd cheered and clapped from both sides.
Indeed, senior night will be one Dalton and Owls fans will not forget anytime soon! The Owls came away with the win 66-42.
