Smith County Director of Schools Barry H. Smith has released a statement concerning the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) lawsuit filed against the Smith County School System.
Director Smith’s statement reads as follows:
“The Smith County Board of Education has been aware through media reports of potential litigation brought on behalf of certain parents and students connected with the school system. Neither the Board or any individual administrator has been served with a filed copy of any suit. The Board had no prior notice of suit being filed against it or its administrators. The issues reported to be a part of this suit are of great importance to the school system and the community. Any suit dealing with this subject matter will be immediately defended and treated with the utmost seriousness.”
