Smith County Barrel Race to be held on June 16, 2018

The South Carthage Civitan and the Smith County Saddle Club will be hosting a Barrel Race on Saturday, June 16th, 2018, at the Smith County Ag Center. Training will start promptly at 3:00 p.m. and the show will begin at 6:00 p.m.

In the event of inclement weather, the Smith County Barrel Race will be held on June 23, 2018, at 6:00 p.m.

Admission to the event is $3.00. Children 6 years old and younger are free.

Concessions will be available to purchase from the Chapel Hill Methodist Church.

There are 5 different classes for the race. Registration fees for each class are as follows:

  1. Training Barrels — $5.00
  2. 6 & Under Barrels — $5.00
  3. 12 & Under Barrels — $10.00
  4. Youth Barrels 4-D (17 & under) — $15.00 ($750 added)
  5. Open 4-D Barrels — $25.00 ($750 added)

The 4-D class is divided by 1st division fastest, 2nd division ½ second, 3rd division 1 second, and 4th division 2 seconds. Ponies must be 52 inches or under for the 12 and under classes.

There must be 60 riders in open 4-D class for 100% money. If there are less than 60 riders, 50% of added money will be rewarded. All divisions will pay 5 places. All money stays in each division, and all money will be divided evenly in each division.

Current Coggins are required by law. All riders ride at their own risk. The sponsors of the event are not responsible for any accidents that may occur. There will be no refunds for the event, and all dogs must be on leashes.
