(Smith County Insider Press) An investigation conducted by the Smith County Sheriff’s Office ended with three arrests being made on varying charges July 22.
Sgt. Junior Fields, Sgt. Jimmy Lankford, Deputy Nathan Williams and Deputy Robin Bellar went to a Ward Hollw residence to follow up on an investigation into firearms being on the property, owned by a felon.
Earlier that day, Lankford and Williams had been to the property in reference to theft of services, at which time the two observed a rifle lying on a chair outside the camper, according to the arrest warrant.
Upon arrival, Fields and Lankford observed a marijuana plant growing in front of the camper near a wooded area. According to the arrest warrant, they knocked and announced on the open door, at which no one answered.
Williams and Bellar went to retrieve their patrol units from where they had parked them while Fields and Lankford awaited their arrival back at the scene in order to secure the location for application of search warrant.
After Williams and Bellar arrived back at the location, Fields and Lankford started walking back to their patrol units and observed a red Honda CRV travelling on Ward Hollow Road, at which time Fields observed the vehicle having DeKalb County tags. Due to the suspect living in DeKalb County, Fields ran the tag, which came back with unconfirmed insurance.
Fields and Lankford attempted to catch up to the vehicle, and after making contact, a stop was conducted.
Upon contact with the driver, identified as Hani M. Ittayem (37, Liberty, Tennessee), he was found to not have a license.
While speaking to Ittayem, Fields observed a rifle in the back of the vehicle with tape on it and matching the description of the one observed by Lankford earlier in the day. Lankford stated the firearm was the same .22 rifle he and Williams had observed, according to the arrest warrant. He also stated the backpacks in the back of the vehicle were at the property when they had been there, according to the arrest warrant.
Fields had Ittayem step out of the vehicle along with his girlfriend, identified as Amy Hall (40, Liberty, Tennessee).
A search of the vehicle revealed a small baggie with crystal methamphetamine inside and a set of digital scales, which Hall admitted belonged to her, according to the arrest warrant.
According to the arrest warrant, a neighbor had observed Hall throw a meth pipe into the ditch line, which was recovered.
It was found that Ittayem and Hall had come to pick up Darline Grisham (43, Liberty, Tennessee) from the camper after they called due to Lankford and Williams having been there earlier in the day, according to the arrest warrant.
According to the arrest warrant, Ittayem stated that he and another male were getting the items out of the camper and while returning had heard the Sheriff’s officers knocking and announcing at the door.
According to the arrest warrant, Ittayem stated that the other male ran one way and himself the other.
While searching Hall’s phone, a text came in from the other male’s phone advising them to come get him, according to the arrest warrant.
Fields learned that that they were located at another residence, and after having Sgt. Kendra Grisham come to the scene, Lankford, Bellar and Fields went to another Ward Hollow residence, where they made contact with Darline Grisham.
According to the arrest warrant, it was learned that the other male had in fact ran from the yard of the residence after seeing the officers pull up into the driveway.
Upon making contact with Darline Grisham, she was placed under arrest due to the marijuana plant that was observed growing at the camper.
A search of Grisham’s purse and a bag revealed her to be in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine and a methamphetamine pipe, according to the arrest warrant.
According to the arrest warrant, Grisham advised that possibly more marijuana was growing in the back part of the land where she had been living for a month.
A total of seven additional marijuana plants were found to be growing in the wooded area with irrigation pipes running to them from a creek.
Grisham, Ittayem and Hall were all transported to the Smith County Jail Facility.
Grisham is charged with Manufacture, Deliver, Sell or Possession of Shedule VI, Possession of Schedule II and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Ittayem is charged with Driving without a License and Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon.
Hall was issued state citations for Possession of Schedule II and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
