SCHS Owls Soccer beats York 4-0

April 3, 2018
The Smith County Owls Soccer team played it’s second District match this week against York.  Smith County had a dominant performance controlling the possession and netting 4 times and holding York to only 2 shots on goal.
Smith County opened the scoring in the 34th minute. Will Broyles sent a ball across the mouth of goal and Rolondo Cruz put it in.  Less than 2 minutes later the Owls scored again as Tanner Marshall headed a corner kick back across the goal were Will Broyles was able to finish. The Owls had a 2-0 lead at half.  The second half was more of the same, with the Owls dominating possession.
The Owls kept the momentum going, getting back on the scoreboard in the second half when Elijah Wright  made a nice pass to Will Broyles, splitting the defense and giving Broyles an easy one on one with the keeper. This play led to Broyles scored his second of the game. The final goal was Zach Barclay making a nice shot.
The Owl’s defense did a good job of limiting York’s few attacking chances, only giving up 2 shots on their goal.
The Owls second match of the week was cancelled and rescheduled due to the weather and field conditions.  The Owls play Stone Memorial on Thursday April 5 and then get back to District play the next week.
