SCHS Hunting Club and Hunters for the Hungry to host Big Doe Hunt on Saturday, January 2

November 18, 2020

On December 9, 2020, the SCHS Hunting Club announced that the Big Doe Hunt was postponed until January 2, 2021.

The Smith County High School Hunting Club and Hunters for the Hungry will host a Big Doe Hunt Saturday, January 2, 2021. This hunt is open to all Smith County students.

This is a great opportunity for young hunters to enjoy a fun day of hunting while helping the less fortunate. All does that are weighed in during the event can be donated to Mink’s Deer Processing, located at 79 Shoulder’s Lane in Dixon Springs, to help feed the hungry.

Scales will be open from 3:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at the Smith County Farmer’s Market, located at Crump Paris Park.

All deer must be taken in a legal sporting manner, and deer must be field dressed before weighing. Deer must also be checked in to the TWRA with a confirmation number before weigh-in.

Each hunter can weigh in up to three does.

Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd will be announced after the close of weigh-in. (Placement by single weight).

For more information about the hunt, please contact Rob Hord at 615-735-7796 or Randall Smith at 678-858-1016.
