CARTHAGE, TN – If weekdays and nights don’t leave you with a moment for yourself, you may need to take advantage of a promotion at Highpoint Health – Riverview with Ascension Saint Thomas (formerly Riverview Regional Medical Center). The hospital imaging department is trialing Saturday appointments for screening mammograms on May 18. So if it’s time for your annual screening mammogram, opt in for a Saturday morning squeeze between the hours of 8am and noon.
“One of most common reasons women delay getting a mammogram, which is the single most-effective tool in detecting breast cancer, is because they say they don’t have time,” said Leslie Kitrell, Director of Radiology at Highpoint Health — Riverview. “Women tend to put themselves on the backburner. And during the week, many of us just can’t get away from our commitments. At Highpoint Health – Riverview, we wanted to offer an alternative time when maybe some women don’t have to take off from work or skip a kid’s sporting activity to get this necessary annual preventive screening. We hope that providing more access, we can save more lives by catching cancer early.”
Highpoint Health — Riverview uses the latest 3-D imaging equipment in a comfortable and welcoming environment. The GE Pristina Dueta 3-D mammography machine is the first Patient-Assisted Compression device in this region. The machine gives patients the option to control their own level of compression using a handheld remote. It also comes with different paddle adjustments for varying types of breasts to get the highest quality images.
Patients at Highpoint Health – Riverview also rave about the sensory suite, which consists of two large LED screens that transport patients to exotic locales like the beach or the rainforest. The sensory suite also includes sounds from the selected scenery and aromatherapy. All these features help patients to feel less anxious and more comfortable during their mammogram.
Saturdays are for self-care! To make an appointment anytime for a 3-D mammogram, call 615.735.5300. To learn more, visit HighpointHealthSystem.com/Mammography.
