On August 29, 2022 K-9 Sergeant Ridge Long was patrolling Alexandria Highway when he encountered a vehicle parked on the side of the roadway with no lights on. Upon making contact with the occupants who were strapping down items in the bed of the vehicle Sgt. Long saw a puncture mark on the female’s leg and found the male to be acting anxious and rapidly licking his lips. The male was identified as Thomas Lawrence Blair, 52 from Nicholson, GA..
Deputy Robbie Woodard arrived to the scene to assist. Blair was asked if there was anything illegal inside the vehicle. Blair did not answer. When asked if the K-9 officer could be used to investigate, Blair said he didn’t care. However, before the K-9 search began he indicated that their might be something in a red bag, but he wasn’t sure what it was. Blair consented to allowing officers to retrieve the bag. In the bag approximately 3 grams of methamphetamine was discovered. Blair indicated that the drugs belonged to him. While searching the rest of the vehicle four glass pipes and four used syringes with residue were also discovered. Blair was transported to the Smith County Sheriff’s Office for processing. He was charged with possession of methamphetamine and felony drug paraphernalia possession. He was released without a bond for future court dates.
