Ribbon Cutting Celebration marked the opening of the new 15th Judicial District Attorneys Office

Several community leaders, businesses, law office and members of the criminal just community came out to celebrate the grand opening of 15th Judicial District Attorneys’ office on 1001 North Main Street in Carthage, TN on Friday, September 16, 2022.

The new facility will provide an office for General Jason Lawson and assistant district attorneys who serve clients in the area. It will also house a number of offices that provide a variety of legal support services for victims and family members including victims and child advocacy, child support collection division and a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) branch office. Moving to a location that was more central to the clients that are served by the District was motivating factor in choosing Carthage as a location.

Gen. Lawson was appointed to the office by Governor Bill Lee on April 7, 2021. He had previously assumed the duties of the office on March 1, 2021, after being appointed by presiding judge Brody Kane as the acting district attorney upon the retirement of his predecessor, Gen. Tommy Thompson.

The 15th district includes Wilson, Macon, Smith, Trousdale and Jackson Counties. It has General Sessions and Juvenile Courts in each county and two trial level judges with Criminal Court assignment. 15th District Attorneys Office engages in Child Support Enforcement and is active in the district’s Drug Court Program.
