Several recent discussions in local social media groups have stemmed an initiative to reprint the Smith County History Book, which was originally printed in 1986. Local business owner John Leftwich has partnered with Better Letter Printing, the Smith County Heritage Museum, and the Smith County Chamber of Commerce to make the reprint happen.
A limited-production run of the hard bound reprinted history book will cost $100 and is currently available for pre-order. You can pre-order a copy at the Smith County Heritage Museum or the Smith County Chamber of Commerce. Payment is due at the time of the order.
Proceeds from the sale will go to the Smith County Heritage Museum, the Smith County Chamber of Commerce, and the Spot. A portion of the proceeds will also go toward future history-related projects, including a proposed volume two of the Smith County History Book.
The original book was published in 1986 by the Smith County Homecoming ’86 Heritage Committee as a project for the Tennessee Homecoming and has been a valuable resource for the history of Smith County since its publication.
