(Smith County Insider Press) – On January 30, 2020, Deputy Matt White was Patrolling in the area of Pleasant Shade Highway when dispatch issued a BOLO for a potential drunk driver heading west on Highway 25. Deputy White made contact with the vehicle and observed it cross over the center line twice before initiating a traffic stop.
While speaking with the driver of the vehicle, Destiny Lambert (37, Okarche, OK), Deputy White noticed an odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Lambert was asked to exit the vehicle. When questioned about the odor, she began digging through her purse and stated she did have some marijuana. While Deputy White was attempting to search the purse, Lambert was restless and continually tried to approach him. For officer safety, she was placed in the back of Deputy White’s patrol car.
According to the police report, a search of the purse revealed 3 marijuana cigarettes, rolling papers, an open bottle of alcohol, and a pipe associated with meth use containing a burnt residue. A search of the vehicle revealed a 375 milliliter bottle of Jack Daniels that was more than half empty under the passenger seat and an Excedrin bottle containing a 2 milligram Alprazolam pill.
Lambert was asked to perform a Standardized Field Sobriety Test. She was placed under arrest and taken to the Smith County Jail where a blood draw was conducted by Smith County EMS.
Lambert is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to use, driving under the influence, and two counts of possession of controlled substances.
