Remember to Spring Forward for Daylight Savings Time – March 13, 2022

March 10, 2022

Daylight Savings Time will return this Sunday, March 13, 2022. Remember to set your clocks ahead 1 hour before you go bed.

The practice of Daylight Savings started during World War I as a way to take advantage of the extra daylight hours during warmer months and conserve energy. It has been faced controversy and has been used somewhat inconsistently in the United States.

The Energy Policy Act of 2005 extended Daylight Saving Time from 2007 forward in the U.S. unless the change proves unpopular or if energy savings are not significant. Daylight Savings time officially begins at begins at 2:00 a.m. on the second Sunday of March and ends at 2:00 a.m. on the first Sunday of November.

Tennessee is one of the 48 states that participate in the clock changing ritual. Hawaii and Arizona do not recognize daylight savings time. So love it or hate it, just remember to do it if you want to make it to work, church or wherever you need to be on Sunday. This is also a good time to remember to check the batteries in your smoke detectors.
