The following is a public notice provided by Sarah Marie Smith, Mayor of Carthage:
At the December 6, 2018 meeting of the Carthage City Council, a Carthage resident will be appointed to fill a Council seat that has been vacated due to health issues.
The meeting will be held at 6:00 p.m. at Carthage City Hall, located inside the James A. Clay Memorial Building at 314 Spring Street in Carthage.
To be considered as a candidate for the vacated seat, a person must have lived within the corporate limits of Carthage for a full year.
The person selected will hold the office from December 6, 2018 until November 3, 2020.
Any qualified Carthage citizens interested in filling this seat should submit a letter of interest and contact information to:
