“Promises” planted by students bloom at GES, GHS, SCMS, and SCHS

April 1, 2020

Even though the halls of the local schools are empty, flowers that students in the SADD Club planted last fall are in full bloom for all to see.

Bunches of red tulips are peeking up in front of the school signs at Gordonsville Elementary School, Gordonsville High School, Smith County Middle School, and Smith County High School.

“Last fall SADD Club students planted bulbs at our schools to symbolize a promise not to use tobacco, drugs or alcohol! Great job students!” the Smith County Drug Prevention Coalition shared in a post on Facebook earlier this week.

Students planted the flowers as part of the nationwide “Plant the Promise” initiative. When the flowers the students planted finally bloom, they serve as a reminder of the importance and the beauty of living a drug-free life.
