The Carthage City Pool was the focal point and scene for filming a commercial for Moon Pie. The pool was closed to the public on Monday, June 6th. However, it was reported by the Mayor, Sarah Marie Smith, Town of Carthage that over 80 people from all around Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama and Texas were a part of the production company, actors and extras for the filming.
Mayor Smith said it started with a phone from a friend at the Tennessee Film Commission who asked if Carthage had a public pool with a diving board. Pictures were shared and the location was approved. Mayor Smith negotiated with the production company to ensure that local people, businesses and services would be used.
