(Smith County Insider Press) Carthage, Tenn. — Early Friday morning, around 4:45am, Smith County 911 received a call reporting a structure fire at the end of Wilkerson Hollow Lane, off of Bradford Hill Road.
When authorities arrived on scene, they found a barn fully engulfed in flames. New Middleton, Central District, Forks River, and Rock City/Rome Fire Departments were called to the scene to help extinguish the blaze. It took over two hours to fully extinguish the fire.
The fire took place at Poultry Hollow Hatchery located at 116 Wilkerson Hollow Lane. According to the Tennessee Property Data website, the owner of the farm is Judy A Wood. Several chickens and other types of poultry were killed during the fire.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
