Gordonsville Police Lt. Scott Hale responded to “shots fired” at the Gordonsville Exxon on September 6, 2023. Along with Smith County Sheriff Sergeant Jimmy Lankford, Hale made contact with the suspect at the gas pumps. Weapons were drawn and the suspect identified as 33 year old, Allen Jeffery Martinez, of Howe, TX, was ordered to show his hands and lay on the ground.
A loaded weapon was found on Martinez’s person. Several other police units also responded to the scene. The entire parking lot and store was temporarily closed. Lankford and Hale successfully apprehended Martinez. During the process it became apparent that Martinez was under the influence of an undetermined substance. Narcan was administered and Martinez was treated by Smith County EMS and transported to Riverview Regional Medical Center. Martinez faces multiple charges including aggravated assault. Lt. Jason Kemp was also involved in the investigation.
