Owls lose 35-0 on first road trip of season

The Owls first road trip of the season resulted in a 35-0 loss to Livingston Academy on Friday night, dropping their record to 1-4 this season.

The Owls defense got started first, stopping the Wildcats on three downs and forcing a punt, but the Owls weren’t able to continue the momentum on offense, as they were forced to punt as well.

The Wildcats bounced back with a long drive down field that saw them find the endzone with 4:25 left in the first quarter off of a 25 yard touchdown pass. The Owls bad luck continued, throwing a pick six on the second play of the drive to put them down 14-0.

The Owls were making progress on a long drive down field, but penalties forced them back and they were for forced to punt from the Wildcats 35 on 4th down midway through the second quarter. With neither team able to do anything on their next drive, the Wildcats were able to strike with 30 seconds left in the half following a 60 yard drive for a touchdown to extend their lead to 21-0

Livingston added to their lead in the second half, scoring with 5:45 left in the third quarter, connecting for a 30 yard touchdown pass on a fourth down attempt to go up 28-0.

Livingston kept their foot on the gas, scoring again with 9:23 left in the 4th quarter, finding the end zone off of a 66 yard run to extend their lead to 35-0. This would be the final score of the game, as the clock started running due to the score.

The Owls will have another road trip next week on 10/2, travelling to take on Sequatchie.
