(Smith County Insider Press) — A woman was arrested last week after various drugs were found in her vehicle during a traffic stop.
Deputy Matt Bush of the Smith County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a white KIA Amanti at Smith County Motors on Dixon Springs Highway Friday, January 28.
Upon contact with the driver, identified as 44-year-old Tammy Hoffman of Hartsville, Bush asked her for her license, registration and proof of insurance.
According to the arrest warrant, Hoffman could only provide her driver’s license and title to the vehicle — unable to provide a valid registration or insurance documentation for the vehicle.
Consent was asked to search the vehicle, according to the arrest warrant.
Upon search of the vehicle, a pain reliever bottle containing a yellow, urine-like substance was located inside the middle console. Also located was a small black safe in the trunk of the car, which Hoffman stated did not belong to her, according to the arrest warrant.
Several pill bottles were located in the safe:
- A 10 mg Hydrocodone bottle was filled and prescribed to Hoffman on December 10, 2016, for 120 Hydrocodone 10 mg pills; however, there were 13 Oxycodone pills inside the bottle.
- A 10 mg Hydrocodone bottle was filled and prescribed to Hoffman on January 9 for 120 Hydrocodone 10 mg pills, which should have still contained 66 pills (according to the arrest warrant); however, there was only one 10 mg Hydrocodone pill found inside the safe — and none inside the prescribed bottle.
- An unmarked bottle contained four 8 mg Sublingual Suboxone pills, which Hoffman stated she was not prescribed, according to the arrest warrant.
All medication was seized and secured to be sent to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation for identification.
Hoffman was arrested and transported to the Smith County Jail Facility for booking.
She is charged with two counts of possession of schedule II, prescription drug fraud and manufacture/deliver/sell of a controlled substance.
