In demonstrating the Upper Cumberland Region’s appreciation for its military veterans the Highlands’ Economic Partnership, Leslie Towne Center, TN Dept of Labor, and American Job Centers will be hosting a one-stop resource event for military veterans on November 9th from 9 am to 2 pm at the Leslie Towne Center, W 1st St. in Cookeville. Exclusive access for Military Veterans will be from 9am to noon and the event will open to the public from 12pm to 2pm.
Life Church will be providing haircuts, medical screenings, food, etc. through their DUO Missions trucks.
The Mobile American Job Center will be present to assist with any employment service needs including updating resumes and applying for open positions online.
Numerous Veterans Organizations such as the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and County Veteran Service Officers will be present to aid veterans with benefits or disability claims.
A representative from Senator Haggerty’s local office will also be attending.
Additionally, numerous employers from throughout the Upper Cumberland Region will be present with a multitude of openings they hope to fill with military veterans. Employers that are currently committed to attend are: Altium, Aphena Pharma, Bledsoe County Correctional Complex, G&L Tube, Hillsman Modular Molding Inc., Hutchinson, J&S Construction, Jackson Kayak, James Emmett Company, Livingston Regional Hospital, Nyrstar Mines, Putnam County Schools Transportation, Putnam County Schools- Nutrition, Putnam County Schools- School Age and Employee Child Care, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, Quality Private Duty Care, TTI Floorcare, White County Schools and Government, and White County Sheriff’s Office. Other employers are expected to confirm their attendance in the coming days.
The following education institutions will be present to assist veterans with pursuing higher education: TCAT Crossville, TCAT Livingston, and Tennessee Technological University Military Affairs Office.
