Multiple Arrests Made Following Informant Tip

(Smith County Insider Press) – On November 25, 2019, K9 Sergeant Ridge Long was contacted by an informant and told that there were several individuals inside a residence in Carthage who were selling or in possession of methamphetamine. According to the police report, the informant stated that Tina Grisham (50, Carthage) was seen with an eight ball (3.6 grams) of meth. The address given by the informant was known to have illegal narcotics present due to past arrests and cases.

According to the police report, a search warrant was issued and on November 26, 2019, Sergeant Ridge Long, Sergeant Terrance Adams, Deputy Matthew White, Deputy Layne Silcox with the Smith County Sheriff’s Office as well as officers from the Carthage and South Carthage Police Departments, Chief Jarred Smith, Officer Hugo Teasley, and Officer Tracey Holder executed the search warrant at the residence.

According to the police report, several individuals were detained both inside and outside the residence. While detaining individuals, Chief Jarred Smith observed Steve Comstock (27, Carthage) attempting to hide a plastic baggie between the couch cushions. The baggie contained half of a suboxone pill. Laying in plain view in Comstock’s black backpack was a used syringe. According to the police report, a search of Tina Grisham’s bedroom revealed approximately 1.14 grams of methamphetamine, a set of digital scales, several used baggies, two used syringes, three cut straws, and a blue spoon, all of which contained residue. A search of Grisham’s phone revealed a voice text sent to her from Comstock regarding the selling of the suboxone pill. According to the police report, Grisham admitted to using the straws found in her bedroom to snort meth.

Grisham and Comstock were placed under arrest and transported to the Smith County Sheriff’s Office for booking. Grisham is charged with felony possession of drug paraphernalia and mfg/del/sell controlled substances. Comstock is charged with felony possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of controlled substances, and tampering with evidence.
