Mr. Frank Hale Gibbs, age 62, of Kennys Bend in Rock City, TN, passed away Friday, October 2, 2015 at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Mr. Gibbs was born March 3, 1953 in Carthage, TN, the Son of the Late Betty Jean Crawford and Morris Hale Gibbs. He was a 1971 Graduate of SCHS. Frank attended the Plunketts Creek Missionary Baptist Church. He worked for Bass Funeral Home from 1973 until 1978 and followed his passion to the Smith County Ambulance Service when it was formed and worked there from inception in 1978 until 2014. Frank served on the Smith County Board of Commissioners for numerous years as a Commissioner for the 4th District (Rock City).
Mr. Gibbs is survived by Three Sisters; Debbie (Chip) Hailey of Lebanon, TN, Wanda Gibbs Graves of Carthage, TN, and Donna Gibbs of Carthage, TN. Nieces; Nikki Hailey and Erin Hailey both of Lebanon, TN, Mikki (Joe) White of Hartsville, TN, Mandi Jo Ferrell of Lebanon, TN, Victoria Graves of Johnson City, TN, and Andrea (Nathan) Johns of Cannon Beach, OR. Great Nephews; Ryan White and Samuel Johns. Great Niece; Katherine Johns. Aunts and Uncles; Thelma White, Faye Crawford, Charlene (Odell) Petty, Sandra Jo (Jerry) Jennings, Gerald Crawford, Carol Woodard, Cathy Hewitt, Zelma Crawford, and Wilsye (Burt) Booth.
Funeral Services for Mr. Gibbs are scheduled to be conducted from the Carthage Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at 11AM with Eld. Michael Nesbitt, Bro. Jeremy Bennett, Bro. Jimmy Gregory officiating. Interment will follow in the Litchford Cemetery with Bro. Junior Dickerson officiating.
Visitation with the Gibbs family will be held at the Carthage Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Monday, October 5, from 4PM until 8PM, on Tuesday, October 6, from 1PM until 8PM and on Wednesday, October 7, from 9AM until the time of the service at 11AM.
The Gibbs Family requests donations in Frank’s memory be made to the Kidney Foundation and the Plunkett’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
