At 8:33AM Friday morning, July 10, law enforcement officers received a call about a head on collision at approximately 141 Alexandria Highway (Highway 53).
Steven Farley, age 39, of Chestnut Mound, was traveling south towards Alexandria in a black 1998 Dodge Ram. Jessica Parker, age 31, of Shelbyville, was traveling north in a maroon 1996 Buick Regal. Parker’s nine year old daughter was also in the vehicle. Farley’s vehicle crossed the center line and struck Parker’s head-on.
The Smith County Rescue Squad Extrication Unit arrived on the scene to cut Parker and her Daughter out of the car. The two were transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center via Life Flight and Air Evac Lifeteam. There has been no word yet on the extent of their injuries. Farley was not injured in the accident.
According to Tennessee Highway Patrol Officer Sean Tramel, Farley was cited for failure to maintain his lane and for not having insurance. The results from a blood sample obtained from Farley are still pending.
THP Lieutenant Joe Agee and Trooper Bobby Johnson were on the scene as well, as were Smith County EMS, New Middleton Volunteer Fire Department, and the Smith County Sheriff’s Department.
